I am practising with Mac operating systems by using my father in law's iBook. I think that he is very generous to let me loose on it..... or is that foolish ?
Well, dear reader, I am about to do something that, at my advancing years, I might find a challenge.
I am leaving the "safe haven" of PC's and joining the ranks of MAC wearers, or shouldd that be MAC users ?
Many years ago, many, many years ago, I was a MAC user. That was when the operating system was 7.5, the MAC and the PC didn't "speak" to each other and my MAC computer was an LC2 !
So why amy I going back ? Well to use a bastardised version of a saying, "once you've tried MAC you never go back"! At the time that I had a MAC, my work used PC's and the file formats were not compatible so I couldn't send files to colleagues that they could use and vise versa, so I had to give the MAC up and use a PC. But I have always been a closet MAC person.
So, when a MAC became available at a good price, I jumped at it. I take ownership, or perhaps that should be, "I bond with" the MAC in mid July and I will let you know how I get on with getting all the stuff I currently use ported across to the MAC. Things like ActiveSync, Nokia PC Suite, etc etc.
Sad person that I am I have already bought an issue of MAC Format !
This might make things more interesting............
I have just come back from a week in Prague. Lovely city. I recommend it.
So, tell me..... how does this work. I recycle plastic bottles; milk cartons, Lucozade bottles, that sort of thing.
I appreciate that the plastic can be recycled, but what happens to the labels that re attached to these bottles ? Some are paper, some are plastic and some are goodness knows what !
Anyone ?
Well, it has been in, had the vibration sorted out and has come back. And, it is quiet !
The vibration/noise was the clutch pipework vibrating on the bulkhead. The bulkhead is the metal sheet that separates the engine compartment from the passenger compartment. How did it come to vibrate ? No one knows, apparently.
The saga goes on. I took the car back on Saturday as the whole driving experience was just unplesant. They had one of their "experienced" engineers look at the problem and his "experience" told him that with the replacement belt system, things were tighter than before and that any noise that I might think was there would wear off in time.
He did agree, however, that there was a sympathetic vibration behind the dashboard and on the 6th of April, they are having the car in to take the whole dashboard out to find the offending vibration !
All this for something that might "wear off in time" ! I dont think so ! Something is wrong and they know it !!
