Seals

Yesterday we went to see the seals which reside on the sandbars just off the coast.  There were common seals and grey seals; adults and last years young.  No new pups yet, it's too early.

The trip was great and the weather was sunny and there was no swell to make anyone feel ill.

We had a walk afterwards in Blakeney it was a really nice day.  Rounded off with dinner in Norwich with our friends at Cafe Rouge.

Today we are off to Holkham to walk round the coast back to Wells.

A break from "Why is it.... "

I cant find a way to start this blog in the way I would like, so it will just have to start.

Yesterday, Monday, we met our good friends Andie and Beverley at Sherringham Park and spend quite a few hours walking the grounds and going down to a bridge over a railway line that runs steam trains.  The weather was OK but by no means brilliant but seeing A&B again and catching up on events was great.  We then drove into Sherringham and had fish and chips in a little side street restaurant.  The fish and chips Beverley and I had but the seafood platter that Mrs Matzoman and Andie had left a bit to be desired, apparently.

We then walked down the high street and had ice creams all round.   Back to the car and off to Wells to our humble holiday abode for a cup of tea before A&B headed off home.

We are seeing them again on Thursday when we are going to try to fit in the new Indiana Jones film and a meal in Cafe Rouge.

We hope to go to the Seal Sanctuary in Hunstanton today but as yet, 10.58, we are nowhere near ready !

The News from Wells

The news ??  RAIN RAIN RAIN, walk in the rain, more rain, late lunch at about 14.45 at Cafe 38 in Wells, back to the cottage and read.

The forecast for tomorrow is more rain, but we are hoping to see some friends from Norwich so we might end up going to the pictures.

Wednesday is when the weather is supposed to improve here.....  that should make things easier.

Why is it that..........

.... we like Wells Next the Sea so much ?  Is it just that its "next the sea" or is it that its picturesque with lots of interesting places to explore and the pace of life is much slower ?

Well, whatever it is, its one of the places that Mrs Matzoman and I love to go to.  In fact we love it so much, that we are here for a whole week. We have booked a cottage just a short pace from the main part of town.  We have arrived, had a cup of tea (of course) and are now off to walk along the main street in town.

Tomorrow we are having lunch in the Hare Arms at Stow Bardolph and that is already booked.

The only down side is that the Internet connection is so slow with the 3G card as there isn't a 3G service here so its defaulted back to a snails pace.

Laptops.... and I mean computers !

Due to the paranoid security measures that my employers enforce with respect to gaining access to their servers remotely, ie: from home, they use a complicated program called FibreLink 360.  In the last 3 weeks this has completely fallen over twice meaning that over 100 laptop using employees can not get to the server, can not send and receive emails, as Outlook only works when using the VPN and can not pull centrally stored information off the servers.  What price security now ?   And, they are farming out thier badly named HELP DESK to IBM !  God knows what will happen next !

Speed

Why is it that the speed that a computer works is inversely proportional to the speed with which you need the information ?

Keyboards

Why is it that we have the following keys on a computer keyboard <Scroll Lock> and <Pause/Break>

Are these a hangover from the old MS DOS days and what did they do and what good are they now ?

Shopping

I wonder why it is that.........   when people go shopping at a supermarket, they seem to loose all sense of space, distance and most particularly, manners.  I have just returned from Tescos and I have had a trolley run over my foot, a trolley rammed into my heels and a trolley pushed in front of me when I was choosing the grapes. Not a word of apology or a murmur of regret.  Mind you, it is possible that the ignorant pigs wouldn't even apologise if the bumped into you in the street !!
